Can't burn a cd

Don't think any of those solutions with fix it. I had
the same problem. What I did was disable xp's built in
burning tool. I had nothing but problems with it, and it
often interfered with reading CDs burned from another
app. Right click on your CD drive in My Computer, go to
Recording, and disable it. This doesn't disable the
drive's ability to burn, it just shuts off window's
automated burning software. This is based on XP Pro, but
it should work the same on Home.

I've done all of the above, and tried your suggestion about disabling the
built in. Didn't make any difference at all. I do thank you for all the
