View Full Version : Where is Powerpoint??

I have a new Windows XP computer and can't find Powerpoint
on it. I have loads of presentations from work I need to
update and my daughter wants to make slides for her Science
Fair this year. What's up? Please don't tell me Microsoft
wants me to but a separate package for this. My friend has
Windows 2000 and Powerpoint came with his computer!
If it's not included, what's the alternative on XP? Looks
as though I've got a lot to learn about this computer.

Patty;
Power Point is not and has never been a part of any operating system.
Many computer manufacturers have provided it or other Microsoft Office
components with their computers.
If you need Power Point, you need to buy it.

The Students and Teachers is probably the best option since your
daughter is a student.

Powerpoint has never been part of any Windows version it is part of the
Office application which will have to be purchased and installed. Your
friend probably got her version as a bundle of software installed by the
people who sold her the PC. You can get a free Powerpoint viewer from the
Microsoft site but I don't think it will allow you to do any work with the
files just view them, sorry I don't have the actual URL for the viewer handy
but I'm sure someone will be along and supply it.
Hope this helps

Hi Patty,
Powerpoint is an Office Application that is part of the Office Suite. You'r
friends computer came with Office installed along with Windows 2000. That
is why they are able to use Powerpoint.
http://www.microsoft.com/office/howtobuy/choosing.asp is a good site to
determine which Suite is best for you.
Hope this helps.
Thx,
Nico

Get a compatible package here, free: http://kadaitcha.ath.cx/links.aspx
"Need an MSOffice compatible word processor, spreadsheet, drawing,
presentation, data editing (ADO, ODBC, etc) application with support for
WYSIWYG HTML editing, plus a scripting language, all fully compatible with
Windows XP? Want to pay absolutely nothing for it?"

What version of office are you running? It comes with office not all
versions though if you have the small biz office it is not included.
Here are the comparisons from the office website
