View Full Version : Cannot receive new updates because the software you are installing

Whenever I try to install a new update the following
message appears: "The software you are installing has not
passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility
with Windows xp".

It has failed to add Security Patch # 818529 for the past
9 days but reminds me every day to install it. Then
the "Software you are installing" window pops up. Oddly
enough after I click "OK", I'm informed the update was
successfully installed. Of course, the following day I'm
prompted to install it again. The same thing happens to
other updates, also.

Is there a known solution to this problem?
TIA/ Wayne

PS: Is it possible for someone to e-mail me the solution?

Follow this:

Look for "When installing an update you receive the following message:

To do this:

(2.) Click "Tools," and then click "Internet Options."
(3.) Click "Connections," and then click "LAN Settings."
(4.) Make sure the check boxes for "Automatically detect settings" and
"Use automatic configuration script" are not selected.
