Hello. I am about to cry. I have done everything i know to
do to install a software program I downloaded from the
web. I downloaded it to my c drive, and saved it in my
program files. The download file is there. When I click on
it, I get a screen that says "set up", and then I click
that, and I get another screen that tells me to go to my
control panel to install it. Thats where I get lost. I
tried the add software feature, but the program isn't
there. The add software feature only gives me 2 options,
a cd, a floppy, or a windows download feature. If I go to
com applications, the program isn't there under programs.
it is only in the programs on my c drive when I search
with win explorer. I cannot find anyplace to finish the
installation for the download? I am the administrater, and
I have allowed this program full access with my firewall.
I am stumped???

Would it be too much to ask the name of the program? It is hard to
help without more details. It would just be an uneducated guess.

I'm sorry, The program is www.auctionsubmit.com. I use
them to submit my auctions to Ebay. I had it for years on
my other computer, and I had it on my new DEll as well. I
couldn't get the newest updates 2 days ago either. I did
see that my personal firewall had them blocked, so I
disabled that. I had already uninstalled the entire
program, before I had realized I had them blocked. So I
redownloaded it today. It downloaded fine. It is the set
up I am having a problem with. I saved it to Programs, and
did everything as instructed. When the set up button is
clicked, I get another screen saying, go to control panel
to install and configure the components? When I go there,
and go to add hardware aqnd software, the program isn't
there. So, I can't get any further. I have no clue what
the problem is? Perhaps you could email me? I would be
very apppreciative. I have been all day trying to figure
this out.

I went to the site and downloaded the program. It did what you
described. It appears that the WinZip Self Extractor is not
actually running the setup. I used Winzip itself to extract the
files to a location on my hard drive and ran the Setup.Exe in the
Package folder. It went through a normal install. I was never able
to find where the extracted files went when I followed the
instructions from the website.

Most Winzip Self Extracting files give you a choice of just
unzipping or running the installation routine.

If you do not have an unzipping program on your computer, you can
download a trial at http://www.winzip.com to see whether you want
to buy it. Open Winzip first and then select the file to extract.

Hi Earl. Thank you very much for all your help. At least I
now know I am not crazy? LOL!
That is the same thing I did. I went to winzip, and
downloaded the extractor trial version, and I closed my
computer down, I deleted every single thing I could find
associated with AS just to be sure nothing was
conflicting. Then I checked all my settings, and security
again, and did a fresh download this am. This time I saved
the download to the winzip folder on my c drive. It did
the same thing. After it downloaded just fine, I went to
unzip the files, and I got the same message again. Go to
the control panel to configure the components? I am back
at square one. I have written to the admimistrator of the
program, and he hasn't replied back to me in over 4 days.
so, I am out of luck.
I had no problem downloading the zippy software. I think
it may be a compatibility issue. Thanks Again for trying.

Did you use WinZip to extract the file to a location on your hard
drive? You would then go there and run the Setup found in the
Package folder of the extracted files. Do not try to run the
auction file directly.
