View Full Version : Cd-RW problems

I have an LG cd-rw drive and when I was using ME I was using the Roxio
easy-cd software that came with it. Now that I have upgraded to XP I find
that XP has taken over the running of my CD writer and whilst I can come to
terms with the "write the CD later" aspect of things I find that if I save
files to a re-writable disk I am then unable to delete them because the
attributes have been set to read only and I am unable to change them. Is
there a work around for this?

Try reinstalling your Roxio software but do not install Direct-CD (uncheck
at installation options).

XP's built in recording software is very limited in it's function. It treats
a CD-R/W as a CD-R. You might want to upgrade to Easy CD/DVD Creator 6 which
works nicely with XP, or another 3rd party burning app.
Alex Nichol's has a primer on CD Burning in XP with a link from here that
you might want to read through http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/cdr_info.htm
