i installed max payne 2, and it gave me the message.

your system does not have agp acceleration enabled.

ran dxdiag and under display, it says agp texture
acceleration not available.
i downloaded new video drivers and reinstalled them.
i then used asus updater to update bios, and same
problem.i downloaded dx9.0b again and reinstalled it.

in bios it has agp = 4x
agp fast writes enabled
agp aperature 128 mb

asus a7a133 board
athlon 1000 mhz
512 mb pc133
geforce 4 5200 fx with 128mb
45.23 video drivers
games have run crappy for a while, so i guess this is my
problem.

Hi Marti,

In between the well know BIOS and Video Card sits a
little known driver requirement: The motherboard's chipset.
These drivers provide and enhance support for USB, AGP,
and onboard devices such as video, sound, and networking.

How to update your Chipset Drivers is explained at:
