This is the first PC I have ever owned or operated. I
downloaded a file and I can't find it. I was then told to
check my history, where is that ? I looked in C:/documents
and settings/need for speed/owner/my documents and found
nothing. Any info. you may have will be greatly
appreciated. Thank you.

Right click your START button at the lower left of your screen. Select
"Find". Type your search criteria that you know to find the file. (Choose
your C: drive for the Look in directory part. * = wildcard example:
need*.*
You might be better looking by date if you know when the download took
place.
