windows movie maker: i try to download footage from my
video cam to my vaio and i get a warning prompt that
says: Video capture device not detected. Does that
refere to interior software or an exterior device such as
a dvcam, digital camera or vcr?
If it is for an interior device, where can i get or
download a video capture device?

thanks

Is this an analog camcorder or digital camcorder?

If it's a digital camcorder, you should connect it to the PC via a firewire
cable, otherwise known as an IEEE1394 or iLink cable.

If it's an analog camcorder you need some kind of analog capture hardware.
That would be either a separate analog capture card, or a graphics card with
VIVO capabilities (video in video out) or something like the ATI All in
Wonder range.

Im having the same problem this guy is having. I have an
analog camera with s-video and a geforce 4 ti4200 128mb
video card with s-video, but i cannot get the PC to detect
the camera.

Do I need an analog capture device as well? If so can you
please list a few of the good devices/video cards that
will be good for this?

Thanks alot

Jason

Very very few graphics cards have TV in capability. If they do, they are
specifically called VIVO (video in video out). Many graphics cards have TV
Out.

If your graphics card is not VIVO capable, you will need analog capture
hardware.
