new install failure

Been trying to load windows xp upgrage from windows ME and
goes for awhile then on a reboot comes up says something
about ARC name for HAL and system paths unable to name
check windows or manufacturers documentation dealing w/
ARC configuration....I didn't write entire msg down has
anyone seen this?

Hi Rick,

Sounds like boot.ini is corrupt. Boot the WinXP CD, run the Recovery Console
(see below), from the command prompt run bootcfg /rebuild
