Has anyone installed Office 2000 in Windows XP and not
have the activation screen for Office come up when you
open an office app.
Without being able to run product activation I can't
install any Service Packs.
Does anyone have a solution for this.

Office 2000 doesn't HAVE activation. You must be looking at something else.

You do not activate Office 2000, only Office XP/2002.

Greetings --

The registration/activation prompt would only appear if your
Office 2K CD has SR-1 slipstreamed in. Is this the case?

If the CD does not include SR-1, you won't be asked to
register/activate.

FYI, Office 2K SR-1 CDs do require registration/activation.

Thanks Bruce.
That I did not know, never used an SP1 cd. ;-)

Greetings --

You're welcome. The question caught me off-guard, too, the first
time it came up, several months ago. I'd installed Office 2K from a
"non-slipstreamed" CD, as well, and had added the service releases
later, so I had never had to deal with the activation required of the
later versions of the CDs.
