When I switch the DOS programs to fullscreen mode, the
program don't respond to the keyboard buttons I press and
the mouse, ie the program hangs. Then even when I switch
it back to window mode(Alt-Enter) the program still does
not respond. This also happens for the DOS Command
Prompt, so it cannot be the problem of the programs I
ran. Can anyone tell me what is the problem?

While I haven't yet found a DOS program that *won't* run under XP
(I've only tried a few, admittedly) getting them to work can be a
bit of challenge. Some also run very slowly, particularly those that
write 'direct' to the screen memory (which is simulated in XP etc.).
Playing with the resource priorities sometimes seems necessary as well.
I've found the best first step is to bypass the old pif files and
shortcuts and re-create the shortcut with default values, then work
from there. In particular, the shortcuts created in Win98 don't seem
to work well.
