I don't have one, but can you capture video from analog sources to a DV
Camcorder to the PC, thus eliminating the need for a capture card? Is it
good quality capture?

getting the picture to the computer does not depend on being DV or analog.
Either will go, but you need a capture card ,or a capture USB, or a capture
firewire

Is the card one any better than a USB 2.0 one? Is firewire better?

The consumer level solution that is most frequently recommended is the
Canopus ADVC-100. It is an external box that attached to your Firewire card,
so you will need the Firewire card, as well.
