Fading video/audio clips?

Just getting started with MM; is there anyway to fade
from video audio to an audio clip?...In the beginning of
my video, there is audio from the video that is necessary
to hear, and then I want to add an audio clip for the
rest of the video, but I can still hear all of the audio
from the video, mixed in with the audio clip. I've
played with the audio levels, but nothing seems to work,
either all of the audio or video is muted, or it is all
mixed together...

Maybe a 'silent' clip added between clips on the video (audio track) and
another between clips on the Music/Audio track. Overlap the 'silent' clip
with the others to fade the audio to or from total silence where you want.

The 'silent clip' would be any clip that has its audio muted.
