dual monitors

We just swapped out an office computer that ran with
Windows ME. We had 2 monitors running on this computer,
where one was the primary and the 2nd was the slave.

We installed the aux. video card in a new computer
running with Windows XP home edition. The primary
monitor port is somehow disabled with the aux. video card
operational only. I am beginning to suspect that XP home
edition will not support 2 monitors. Is this correct ?
