HELP!!

All of my text letters have changed to SYMBOLS!! I'm not
sure why but now I can't read hardly anything. For
example instead of seeing letters for words I see symbols
like circles, squares, and triangles among others. I
don't wanna slick my HD again so can someone please help?
Also some folders will get and error and close shortly
after I open them. Thanks!!

signatures?
