Sorry for the re-port, but I couldn't find my message from the
newsgroups.

I am installing WinXP Pro on a SCSI disk connected to a Tekram 390U2W
controller card. The harddisk was formatted to NTFS and files copied
to the disk. The WinXP restarts. Problem shows up. An error message
saying that \Windows\System32\Config\System is missing or corrupted.
I have checked that the file is there, so it is not missing. So the
file could be corrupted. Unfortunately, I have tried to re-install
WinXP 5 times, and the same error message still come up everything
after the first reboot. Anyone has any idea? I have searched the
google without any luck.

Thanks,
Antonio

Hi Antonio,

To fix the "windows\system32\config\system file is mising or corrupt" where
Xp wont boot:

Go to Recovery Console and type:

cd system32\config
ren system system.old
ren system.alt systemalt.old
copy c:\windows\repair\system
copy c:\windows\repair\regback\system
exit
