View Full Version : TCP/IP Problem

Hi,

I have XP Pro installed.

Each time I leave my machine alone for a length of time, all of my TCP/IP
programs find that there is no Internet connection. I usually get a dialog
box asking if I want to stay offline or connect. But with some less advanced
applications, they simply try to connect indefinitely or they stop
responding and sometimes hang the system.

How can I stop this from happening?

Chet

Go to the network adapter's properties and see if there's a setting
that lets the system turn the adapter off to save power. If there is,
disable that setting.

Thanks, Steve.
I, too, had that problem occasionally (though not as bad as the original
poster).
I followed your instructions and there is such an option on the Power
Management tab
