>In regards to your computer automatically going into
standby, try right-clicking on your desktop and then
clicking properties (or simply going into your display
settings some other way), then click on the screensaver
tab. Click on Power. You should see 4 dropdown menus:
Turn off monitor, Turn off hard disks, System standby and
system hibernates. You can change each of these to delay
the time it takes to go into standby or hibernation or
standby, OR to disable them, simply select never.
Also, you might wanna disable any automatic screen saver
settings.
One other thing: Does your keyboard have any keys on it
labeled "power" or "sleep" or "wake" or anything like that?
If it does, then maybe you should consider buying a new
keyboard, because no matter what your settings are, if you
accidentally press one of those keys, doing so will
automatically put your computer into standby mode, and for
that one, I don't think there's any way around other than
to change keyboards.
