View Full Version : Font question

There are a few fonts apparently installed by XP (or by one of the XP
updates, I can't remember exactly when I first saw them) that show up
in all my applications' font lists (for example in my Image Editing
apps) and I would like to find out how to get them to *not* show up,
if possible. I do have "Show only True Type fonts in programs"
checked, but that doesn't remove these from the font lists. They
don't seem to appear in my Fonts folder, at least not that I can
recognize. These are the fonts in question as they appear in my
programs' font lists:

Arial Baltic
Arial CE
Arial CYR
Arial Greek
Arial TUR

Thanks for any help ;-)

Go to control panel-font and uninstall them. Be aware that if you need to
use them in the future
you will need to reinstall them.

Why not create a new folder called, say, Unused Fonts, then copy those
that are unneeded to that folder, then delete the entries under the
windows font folder. Presumably this will remove them from taking
memory and make them readily accessible for re-install by simply copying
them back. Of course, only move a few at at a time so you will know if
one is a critical font.

Thanks John and Miles for the replies, but you didn't understand what
I wrote. They do *not* show up in my font folder. If they had, I would
have known what to do. My best guess is that they were part of some
sort of critical or recommended upgrade that I downloaded and
installed directly from the Windows Update Site.
