I am trying some stuff which requires a web page server.
Now I might be being a bit thick here, but didn't earlier
versions of Windows have one of these embodied? If so,
where is the one in XP home?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanx
Ian

Hi Ian,

You want IIS, and it is only available with the Pro version of WindowsXP.
You will need to seek outa third-party solution, though you may find that
most of them require Pro as well.

XP Home explicitly does not support the Internet Information server, now
in Pro, nor the old PWS which has been discontinued anyway. Either you
need a pro upgrade, or a third party solution like Apache, from
www.apache.org
