Its is just an upgrade,
But i would better suggest u to back up ur data under "
MY DOCUMENTS" , " MY PICTURES" " MY MUSIC" " MY MOVIES"
and also " PROGRAM FILES " folders.
If u upgrade from windows 98 to windowsXP ,
only the windows directory is goin to be altered , this
winodws directory involves all the above folders i've
mentioned.
it is not necessary that u have to back up ur data from
these folders to the CD or floppy , what u can do is ,
just back up these folders in a different drive if it has
more than one partitions.
If not , create a NEW FOLDER under the root directory
that is under C: and copy these folder's contents to this
folder.
One more important thing , if ur using ur email in
outlook express and if ur using ur FAVORITES in ur
internet explorer, u may lose them.
coz , windows XP may have its own version of outlook
express and internet explorer .
i am not sure abt that , it may even upgrade these
applications with ur data in there.
