View Full Version : Video distorted during shut down or restart

I have recently had problems with the video on my Dell
Inspiron 8100 during shut down or restart. The computer
still shuts down or restarts without errors, but the
irregular video is irritating.

When clicking on the "Turn Off Computer" option from the
start menu, the pop-up appears giving you the option
to "Standby", "Turn Off", or "Restart". After a brief
delay, the video in the background transitions to black
and white. Well, recently the screen has been
transitioning to black and white AND distorting. It
looks like a horizontal slice a few rows thick was cut
from the top of the screen and repeated over and over
from the top of the screen to the bottom of the screen.
The "Turn Off Computer" pop-up is not distorted
though...just the background video. And, like I said,
the computer still shuts down or restarts accordingly but
the distorted background display really gets irritating
when it does something it's obviously not supposed to.

Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
