I've just installed & registered Win XP Pro and SP1, but during the install
I got the error message "Windows could not load the installer for Tape
controller. contact your hardware vendor for assistance.

Any idea which hardware???

And normally to access my programs I'd go to start/all programs/word etc .
If I try that none of the programs show yet they are still on because
opening a doc opens it in word, the option to print to pdf is there, etc
etc. So how do I get it back the way it was?

Thanks

If you have only installed WinXP then you wont have Word, that is part of MS
Office. It may be the word document is opening using Wordpad which comes
free with windows but you will need to buy & install MS Office.
You must have a tape controller in your PC that windows hasn't got drivers
for, if you don't use a tape drive don't worry about it. If you need it find
the supplier of the tape drive.

No I already had all the office progs on and it's definitely opening it in
Word XP. FP opens when I click on a FP file and the options to print to
Acrobat distiller etc is still there so I know all the progs are still
there- I just want to access them from start/all programs! The tape
controller might be for my video camera
