View Full Version : CUBE error on Toshiba Satellite 1105

I updated Windows XP and the Intel graphics driver for my
Toshiba Satellite 1105. Now the computer won't boot
except in safe mode, and system restore won't work (fails
with error message). When attempting to start I get a
flashing checkerboard pattern, then a black screen. The
only clue I have is that if I try to run a driving game
(that previously operated fine) I get a message "CUBE
error:" that cites either 'font frame' or 'starting
CUBE'. "CUBE" is not a term I can find referenced
anywhere. DxDiag indicates everything is fine there, and
other troubleshooting steps don't indicate problems, but
I still can't start up and run programs normally.

Boot into Safe Mode, go to the Device Manager and try using the Driver
Rollback feature for the graphics drivers.

Thanks for the idea, but I then get asked to insert the
original Intel 82830M graphics installation CD, which did
not come with the computer since I downloaded the upgrade
from the Web. Right now I am stuck in 4-bit color and
weird views of everything.
