starting questions

I recently purchase a refurb that came with XP preloaded.
I have a couple of questions. Since I have no cert. of
authenticity, how do I upgrade or re-install the OS if I
rework the computer. The OS is something that I bought
with the computer and I would like to have something to
own, not just a promise, and if the upgrade asks for the
original disk for verification, what do I do?
Also I copied my email and address book files to put into
the new computer, but can't find the OUTLOOK that I just
installed. I know it's there. It works great, but even
when I do a search for it the files can't be found.
Also is it possible to get the 'file transfer wizard' to
give me the option of using my CD-R? I would go that route
if I could use something other than floppies. My zip and
jazz drives are not the usb variety, so I can't use them.
