I tried a system restore but it did not help, when saving
a jpg file to "my pictures" internet explorer only shows
files with bmp extensions and wants to call the jpg
an "untitled" bmp file. What's going on??

Hi

Try emptying your Temporary Internet Files cache. Open Internet =
Explorer then go to Tools>Internet Options - on the General Tab click =
the 'Delete Files...' button.

just a suggestion: it is possible that you don't have jpg files associated
with any graphics program. Or, if explorer gives you a choice, depending on
how you save the file, select filename.jpg.. hope this helps..

Clear out your temporary internet files, then give it a try again.
