to replace the existing file,1.44mb with1.44kb. the book
say's if you install the practice files to a location
other than the default folder, the file location listed

The message about "instmsia.exe" indicates that there are old files in
your Temp folder from another software installation. Delete those files
and then run the setup for the Step By Step practice files again.
To delete the temp files:
Open Windows Explorer.
Click on Tools> Folder Options.
On the View page, mark off "show hidden files and folders."
Click OK.
Back in Explorer, go to C:\Documents and Settings\<your account>\Local
Settings\Temp. Leave the Temp folder in place but delete all of its
contents. If Windows mentions that one of the files is in use, it will
halt the delete process. Skip the file it mentions and move on to the
rest to delete them.
You may also need to check the Windows\Temp folder. Not many setup
programs use this folder in Windows XP but every once in a while you run
across one that does. Delete its contents as well.
