Mark;
There is no maximum.
I once saw a computer that went back 9 months.
The big factors that change the length of time are:
The slider setting.
Available space on hard drive.
Your personal computer habits.
And more.

its not the number of restore points thats the limit ...its the space =
allocated to restore points.
the more programs you have the larger the restore point..the more space =
it takes...and less points fit in that space.

Interesting question, but surely you are interested realy in only one. That
being the last one before the problem happend. I don't give the restore much
space, in fact I use only two restore points and I have had to use those
twice since my very first installation. With Win98 I had to reguarly format
and reinstall, usually about every 6 months. So to me at least XP has been
brilliant, with also a much more extremly stable platform. However, I
digress. My point was why are you concerned with such a large quantity of
restore points ?

Just wanting to know how it works and all. I am what you call a utiliholic
and like to know what I can use or recommend for use in the event it is ever
needed. Thanks.

Mark,
If you are a "utiliholic" i would suggest a program like GoBack formerly by
Roxio now owned by Symantec. It has a max. allotment of 4 GB per drive it
protects. It is much, much more detailed then System Restore - it does
automatic backup points every few seconds AND will restore everything
EXACTLY as it was @ the point you choose to recover to. It is only, i
believe, $29 US so it is a bargain. I did have some minor problems that
were since rectified once i installed the update.
IMO, the best restore program available.
Good luck,
Ray
