i am runing xp home the driver installs automaticaly with
windows 98 (old pc )nee to install on xp machine

Windows9x drivers will NOT install on an XP PC nor are they designed to.

Go to www.hp.com and look for updated drivers for XP. Install them BEFORE
you connect the printer to the PC.
