unable to print

I recently purchased a new laptop w/Windows XP home
edition. I'm trying to install an old printer (1999)
(Xerox Docuprint P8) I downloaded the driver from the
Xerox website and used the print wizard to install. The
computer recognizes the printer but I can't print. I've
gone through the installation process several times to no
avail. I've done all the "troubleshooting" questions.
Any ideas? Anyone willing to walk me though this one
evening? Thanks. Julie
