View Full Version : WIN NT co-resident with XP

I installed Win XP Pro over Win 2000 Pro shortly after XP
Pro came out. Ever since, I've had both operating systems
on my computer, and when I boot up, I have a choice of
either. I have, however, never selected the 2000 option.
My question is this: can I delete the WINNT directory
that remains on my hard drive without suffering any
negative effects?

Boot to XP and enter %windir% in the address bar. If C:\Windows shows
up, you can delete C:\WINNT, which contains win2K. Then do that
msconfig.exe check boot paths thing to remove the 2K entry from
boot.ini. That should do it.

But how does one "boot to XP" and what address bar are
you referring to?
