Hello....... I'd like to know if there is any way to format a drive under Windows XP in a format OTHER than NTFS....?? I'd prefer to use FAT 32. Right now, I am forced to have the system boot from the CD-ROM instead of the floppy (as I'm accustomed too)
and format the drive and install the OS. I'd also like to know is there a way to "change" the "look"of Windows XP to be like Windows '98, ME, etc...?? Any help would be appreciated. You can e-mail to:

So, you'd prefer FAT 32 because you can't boot using the floppy disk as a
boot disk? You can make a bootable floppy and change your first boot to
floppy in your CMOS settings.

As for making XP look like 98, Right-click on your desktop to open your
display properties. Under the Themes tab, click the down arrow for Themes
and choose Windows Classic. Also, you can click on the Appearance tab. Under
the settings for Windows and Buttons, click the down arrow and choose
Windows Classic Style.

You can tweak XP from here and make it do what ever you want.

I like NTFS because I edit a lot of videos and NTFS allows me to use files
larger than the 2 GB limit Windows 98 has.

Hope this helps. I didn't answer your question about formatting F32. I know
there is a choice when you first install XP. Maybe someone here can answer
it for you.

When installing XP, you are offered the choice of formatting NTFS or FAT.
Keep in mind, there is a 32 Gig. limit on a FAT partition.

As you know, the XP CD is bootable and offers all tools to format and
partition as well as install XP. Under normal circumstances, there is no
need for a boot floppy but, if you want one, "it seems that" XP offers to
create one during setup, don't remember for sure.
Anyway, you can download boot disks from http://bootdisk.com/ .

Once you have installed XP, you can set it up to a classic appearance if you
wish. You will find the options for the desktop, windows, start menu, etc.
