Under File, close, a document will not offer file option
but closes Works application as though I selected Exit.
This also happens in word processor.

As Works is /not/ a native part of the Windows XP operating system, this
isn't the best place to post this. Please repost in the appropriate group
(microsoft.public.works.win).

What does Works' Help file have to say about the use of the
"Close" option?

For better answers, you should probably look in a news group
concerned with Works, rather than an operating system. For instance,
I can help with many WinXP OS problems, but have never seen nor used
any version of Works, so can offer only the most generic of advice:
read the manual/help files.
