Can't get WinXP Pro SP1 to boot to safe mode

Hi. Even leaning on F8 doesn't do it. Is there a way for me to force a
safe mode boot on the next reboot?

I looked at msconfig and couldn't find a boot.ini tab.

If you can't get into safe mode by repeatedly pressing F8 during the early
part of the boot process, it's possible that your keyboard in not
initialized at that point. You have to either go into the bios and set it up
OR use a PS2 keyboard! They always work.
