I am having a problem with my computer that I just can't find any answer
for. My computer runs very slow when I open up any programs and it is
starting to give me a headache. My computer has 128 MB of RAM and a 1002 MHz
Intel Celeron processor. I have 5.44 GB of space used and 30.79 GB of free
space. I did a complete virus scan with Norton 2003, disc defragment,
pc-doctor and a disc clean up. I also removed all cookies and files from the
cache but nothing seems to help. Is the RAM to small or is there something
on here that is to big. I am the administrator with only one other account
that I too have been keeping clean on a daily basis.

Any help would be appreciated.

Disable unwanted XP services: The following services are optional for normal
Windows XP functionality. So, these services can be safely disabled:

Alerter
Automatic Updates
Background Intelligent Transfer Service
ClipBook
Human Interface Device Access
Indexing Service
Messenger
NetMeeting Remote Desktop Sharing
Portable Media Serial Number
Secondary Logon
Smart Card
Smart Card Helper
Uninterruptible Power Supply
Wireless Zero Configuration
Background Intelligent Transfer Service

Procedure to disable a Service:

1. Click Start | Run | and type "Services.msc"
2. Right-click the service that you want to configure, and then click
Properties.
3. On the General tab, in the Startup type box, click Disabled.
4. Click OK and close the "Services" window.

Use the above procedure to disable all the services mentioned above. After
disabling the services, you will need to restart the computer for the
changes to take effect.

(It is advisable to create a restore point as a safety measure)
