When I boot up my XP system, the screen is completely blank. I do not even see the Start button. I can press ctrl-alt-delete and click on the task bar. Once the task bar is up I press open, to open up wordpad. When I exit out of word, all the icons appea
r on the desktop. Can anyone help.
Thanks

Try going into Safe-Mode (hold F8 key down during the start of the boot
process - POST). this should start the comp in VGA mode. Then navigate to
diplay properties and reverse the changes you made or try a different
setting - re-boot for a normal start up.
