Will XP professional install over XP Home edition?

Yes. It is advisable to disable your antivirus and firewall protection
first. You might also wish to do a decent disk cleanup and defrag first as
well. After the upgrade you will need to reinstall SP1a and other Critical
Updates.

Yes. You can use either the Upgrade or Full version (but *not*
the OEM version).

Ken,
I have the same question as Bob. But what would happen if I did try the OEM
version. Would it simply fail, leaving the existing XP Home operable, or
would it render the XP Home useless requiring a new installation anyway.

Regards Ron H.

You can not use an OEM to upgrade so the choice is not available. Whether
or not you screw up your previous setup will really depends on how far
through the installation process you go before you stop. Obviously if you
pop the CD in and boot off it. Then press F3 to cancel the operation when
you see that message you will be fine. But if you format your drive you will
have lost everything and might as well continue installing unless you have
some nifty unformatting tools.
