Can I use windows messenger in our local area network
(intranet) only?
Workstations have WinXP Pro, for the internet we use DSL
thru a linksys router.

Greetings Tom,

You can only use Windows Messenger exclusively locally if you have an Exchange IM server or
SIP-based Communications Service (like Live Communications Server 2003) setup on the local
network. Otherwise, all the workstations will require Internet access to use Windows
Messenger on the public .NET Messenger network.
