View Full Version : How do I get a list of the names of midi files from WE?

I"ve known how to copy and paste since 1996 and just spend
about 30 minutes on the net last night searching how to C&P from Windows
Explorer. I found no information on this. I
have over 500 midi files and need to send a list of thier names to some
friends.

I tried to C&P them to WordPad and I got 500 midi's in WP, and
no way to STOP it once they started to transfer. Esc didn't work, Task
Manager wouldn't work and the STOP button in WE wouldn't work.... I had
to wait then just delete the whole mess. I need a list of the names so
prt scrn wont work either - how is this done from WE? Do I need special
software?

How do I copy the list of the NAMES Of the midi files and not the files
themselves to so I can send the list to my friends?
I would also like a list of my MP3s as well. I have over 2500 of them.

Please give step by step since I'm not a technician. Thank you. :-)

For creating text lists of directories,
a free third party program called
Directory Printer. Available here:
www.karenware.com/powertools/powertools.as
---------------------------------------------------
use the command line DIR command and
redirect its output to a text file that you
can print from Notepad.
-----------------------------------------------
ExpPrint
http://www.jddesign.co.uk/

Explorer context menu extension
"Print Directory Listing" menu
1-select any file folder, drive, or files.
2-comprehensive sorting and layout capability
3-only a small download.
4-shareware, the
5-Save settings capability is disabled

Highlight the LIST only by starting at the top left letter, hold down the
left button and gradually work your way across and down until all, but only
the list is highlighted, right-click, copy, paste into Notepad (not Word, as
you'll finish up with the web-page format instead of text).

## The aabove is an incorrect address or dead link.

## What/where is the "command line" in or for Windows Explorer?

## I downloaded this but can't figure out how to get it to copy the names
of the midi files. When I open the folder of midi files the program
closes. When I close WE to reopen it, it closes when I reopen the midi
folder. I have no clue how to tell this software to copy the names in the
midi file folder. I don't see any way to tell this to copy anything from
WE.

## Where do I find this? I don't SEE that in the above program?

> 1-select any file folder, drive, or files.

## The program closes when I try to select the midi folder.

## All I want to do is COPY the names of the midi files. I don't
understand all the techie-speak. Sorry.
