******* Do you really know what you are talking about???????? I've
installed 2 RAID cards (Adaptec 2400) and in both instances, Win-XP(pro)
auto detected the cards on startup & auto installed the needed drivers. NO
INSTALL FROM SCRATCH WAS NECESSARY...!! Also, the newer RAID cards do not
require 'identical drives' but there are restirctions...!
Just an FYI....!

You need third party software to do it. What I use is either Image for
Windows (which is purely an imaging program) or, from the same source,
BootIT NG, from http://www.BootitNG.com ($35 shareware - 30 day full
functional trial). These make a compressed image that can later be
restored without needing *any* working system around. Or BootIT NG can
make an exact copy so you could just swap drives physically

Windows XP does not have a software solution for disk mirroring.
In order to configure a mirror, you'll need to setup a
RAID configuration. This requires two identical hard
drives, a motherboard with RAID or a RAID controller
card. Then you must install Windows XP from scratch and
install the RAID drivers during setup.
