View Full Version : Updating drivers

I have a Canon scanner which I used with Win 98. Now I have XP Home
and have downloaded the latest drivers from Canon. So far so good.
When XP finds the "new" hardware it looks for a CD or floppy. However
I cannot convince XP that the file I have downloaded to my hard drive,
which is an .exe file not an .inf file, is the required driver. How do
I get XP to install the new driver?
Thanks,
David

What is the model of Canon scanner you are trying to install. Make sure you
are following the instructions exactly. The files XP needs to find are
usually placed in C;\temp.

After I sent the last message I went back to the Canon site & found a
newer version of the XP driver. Have downloaded it & will try starting
over again.
Thanks for the help.

I have the same scanner and it works great, just follow instructions exactly
as they are written.
