Does Microsoft XP Professional come with any software or
do I have to purchase and load?

XP Pro is an operating system and does not come with Office applications
like Word, Excel, Access, etc. You will need to purchase them separately.
You will also need to acquire virus software.

Michael,
I would suggest "antivirus" software as a better choice. :-)

Just to add my 2 cents, Sir George, I think the only question that gets
asked more often than this one is "I've lost my password, how do I access
XP?:-)

No, there's two. "I just upgraded to XP and all my OE folders are
missing" and "I just upgraded to OE6 SP1 and I can't read
attachments" ;-)

OT I know, but you forgot the biggest one... "I've broken the coffee cup
holder on my PC, what do I do?" :D

I'd have to agree, those certainly belong on the list. I think "Can't read
attachments would be a little higher than the missing OE folders but it
would be close.:-)

Head on over to the print/fax group and 'top of the pops' there is "I cannot
fax. How can I get XP to see my modem? I have a cable/DSL/satellite
connection."
Or, how about this from the Publisher group. "I have a Publisher 2002 file
but I cannot open it in Publisher 2000/98/97/95. Why?"
Or the ones asking for a Publisher viewer where there isn't one.
Another couple of common ones in the Windows groups are "Windows can't find
the file C:\Windows\System\cmd32.exe or system32.exe where can I download
it?" or "Can I install Windows on my laptop as well as my desktop?" or
varieties of.
