Let me get your take on this. I saw the link you provided in a previous post
just a short while ago regarding CHKDSK. I have asked this before and got
conflicting answers. The CHKDSK operation done by going to My Computer, C
Disk etc. takes about 45 minutes and has 5 stages. Some MVP's tell you to
type CHKDSK in Start/Run. This is a 3 stage operation and takes only a
couple of minutes. I find it hard to believe they both do the exact same
thing. Just doesn't go along with common sense. What's your opinion?

Regards,
Bruce

There are two ways to perform a Checkdisk:

1. Automatically fix file system errors
2. " " " " " and also
Scan for attempt and attempt recovery of bad sectors.

The five stage approach is the most thorough way of correcting
file system errors, although it takes a bit longer to perform.
