A frequent cause of this problem is that the computer is sending the data
stream to the printer faster than the printer can process it.

Use the latest printer driver for the printer.

If this does not help, try entering the computer's BIOS as it starts up,
navigate to the settings for the parallel port the printer uses. Change the
setting to Parallel port, SPP, bidirectional printer port, or the like but
_not_ ECP, EPP, or ECP&EPP.

Save settings and exit. Restart Windows.
