officejet t45

I am constantly having problems installing the hardware
of my officejet t45. I install the different sections of
the software to the hardware, such as officejet fax,
printer, and just plain officejet. It then gets mixed up
in the different ports, and will not work. I have done
everything seemingly possible...Help

Please let me know if a hero comes to the rescue. Since I got XP, I've lost 2-way communication with my HP T65, and hence, OCR scanning ability.
