I would like to take my Off XP off of my XP machine and
install Off 97 on it. Then I would like to put Off XP on
a new machine.
Will Off 97 run ok on the XP system.
How do I get permission to reinstall Off XP onto the new
system? I hear that can be a problem.

Office 97 works fine on XP. Transferring office XP is no problem as long =
as you adhere to the license agreement. That is if it came with a =
computer it must be used on that computer. If bought in a shop you can =
move it if you want.

Did Office XP come with the XP system - that is to say was it bundled with
it when you purchased it? If so, it is forever tied to that system and
cannot be removed, whatever fate may befall it.

Greetings --

Not quite true, I'm afraid. An OEM version of Office can be
removed if its presence isn't desired; it just can't be installed
anywhere else.

One additional note. If you might find that you have some trouble with the
spellchecker functioning in Outlook Express after installing Office 97. If
so check here http://michaelstevenstech.com/spellcheck.htm

My Off XP did come with my computer...however, it
included the authenic Microsoft Off XP disks. I don't
think it would be considered an OEM. Should that be
sufficient to install it on another XP system. I also
have license for two Off 97 with authenic disks for
both. I am certainly complying with license
agreement...just did not want to order new OFF XP if I do
not need it.

If they are in a hard plastic case they can be moved. If in envelopes =
you can't. It tells you on the actual disk.
