telephone connection

just installed broadband, getting internet connection but telephone line is static and no dial tone. Why? no doubt there is a simple solution to this, just too simple for a simpleton like me! Help.

Is your broadband a DSL connection? If so make sure you install DSL filters
on your phones. Your DSL provider should have included one or two with your
DSL package. You cn also buy then at places such as Radio Shack.
