I had to restart my computer today to finish installing a
program, and when I got back to see if it was done
restarting, I noticed it was frozen on the welcome
screen. I've tried multiple times to restart the computer
and that does no good. Then I let it stay on that screen
in case it was taking a long time to load. No luck. I
gave it a rest tried again a few hours later, and that
did not help either. I've been searching this site for
some solutions and the two I found I came up dry. If
anyone has the slightest clue to what's going on with my
computer, please try to help me. Thanks.

What program was it? In any case, you need to remove the offending program. Hopefully, you have a start-up disk (3.5 floppy) so you can boot from it instead of your hard drive. If you do not, you'll need to have someone with XP create one (very simple). Th
is will boot up your computer. If you make it this far, go to My Computer>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs. And dump that nasty program right out of your hard drive.
