Internet conection error message...

I've been using XP for about 5 1/2 months now, and it has
worked pretty okay for me. However, for the past two days
or so, each time I attempt to open certain programs, I
receive an error message saying that "The page you are
trying to view is not available offline. Select connect to
connect to the internet, or Stay offline to cancel," or
something like that.

I'm not sure what the origin of this message is (when,
exactly it first started appearing, or why), but I do know
that the programs that I attempt to open when the message
usually appears have nothing to do with the internet.

However, this message also appears sometimes when I am
trying to sign on to the internet, or if I've just signed
off.

Any help and/or suggestions anyone could give would be
much appreciated.

MS messenger causes this error.
