system volume

i seem to have a small partition on drive D named system volume , i think it
contained preinstall files that ran automatic updates when i bought my
computer which was originally configured with windows me - I've had xp for
ages now- it doesnt show up in win explorer - any ideas on how to get rid of
it , it seems the ideal place for viruses or trojans to lurk.
